Slide 1
Family,
a common good

Catholic universities, institutions, and centers for the family join together to support the voice of the Social Doctrine of the Church in our global society for the promotion of marriage, family, and human life.

WHAT IS THE FAMILY GLOBAL COMPACT

“The Family Global Compact is a shared program of actions for the promotion of the family throughout the world in light of the Social Doctrine of the Church.
Together, we must work to foster the leading role of the family in the economy, society, the development of the human person, and the common good”.

“It is , therefore, decisive to create and strengthen links and synergy with the Church, particularly with family ministry. The vision of the universities is scientific and interdisciplinary, but it is essential to keep our eyes on reality, remaining in dialogue with the concrete actions of family pastoral work and the local Church in order to respond to the needs that the latter will periodically highlight”.

4 ACTION POINTS

It is in the family that many of God’s dreams for the human community are realized.

We cannot be indifferent to the future of the family as a community of life and love, a unique and indissoluble covenant between a man and a woman, a place where generations meet, a source of hope for society.

I thank all those who have joined the Family Global Compact and those who will do so in the future, and I invite them to devote themselves with creativity and confidence to every initiative that can help put the family once more at the heart of our pastoral and social commitment.

4 STEPS TO TAKE

Activate a process of dialogue and greater collaboration between university centers of study and research dealing with family issues

Creating greater synergy in content and objectives between Christian communities and Catholic Universities

Fostering the culture of the family and of life in society so that proposals and objectives useful for public policies may emerge

Harmonise and support the proposals that have emerged so as to enrich and support the service to the family

THE LOGO

The logo that accompanies the Family Global Compact is the graphic representation of the vision, mission and values that the Global Compact seeks to express.

It consists of three elements: a network, a family and a cross.

Institutes and Centers for the Family that join the Family Global Compact can request the official logo by writing to: info@familyglobalcompact.org

 NETWORK

The network is the worldwide network that ideally links the universities and university centres that are inspired by the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church and to which the Global Compact is being presented. At the same time, it represents the vision of a dynamic network between families – the subject and not the object of the Compact – and between the various participants in civil society supporting family welfare.

FAMILY

The figures represent a family, the source and origin of social life inspired by solidarity and the development of the whole person.

– Human life is represented by the figure of the pregnant woman, deepening the theme of nascent life and respect for every human life.

– Generativity is also a progressive vision that we want to promote by adhering to the Global Compact: a common commitment to foster the leading role of the family in the economy, society, the development of the human person, and the common good.

CROSS

The Christian cross is the representation of the values that drive the Family Global Compact.

It is a symbol of hope, love and the future. Pope Francis in his Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia, points the way: ‘the welfare of the family is decisive for the future of the world and that of the Church’ (AL, 31).
